Kylee + Connor

Thursdays have quietly become a favorite for our smaller weddings at Iris Aisle and it’s easy to see why. There's a calmness to a weekday celebration, a kind of hush that sets the tone for something intimate and unforgettable.

Kylee and Connor chose a date that’s easy to remember, 5.15.25, and on this golden May day in Iowa, we were gifted sun-drenched skies and a wild, spirited wind. Did it stop us? Absolutely not. If anything, it gave us moments we couldn’t have planned: a veil dancing midair, a dress flowing like poetry. The wind became part of the story.

Kylee was the first to arrive, quietly radiant as she got ready in the Couple’s Cabin. There was a beautiful stillness about her. Excited, yes, but grounded and calm. She did her own makeup with care and intention while I photographed the little treasures she brought to personalize the space. I always adore when couples add those personal touches that make the cabin feel like a reflection of them.

Her closest friends surrounded her with love, adjusting her gown, perfecting her hair, making sure everything felt just right. As they opened the French doors for her grand entrance, a sudden gust of wind swept through, like something out of a movie. The moment stood still, as if the whole world paused to watch her walk inside.

Their ceremony was short, sweet, and heartfelt. Exactly what they envisioned. Soon after, they cut cake and treated their guests to charming charcuterie cups. One of my favorite touches? A live painter capturing the day in real time, adding another layer of beauty for guests to admire as they mingled.

We ended the evening with couples photos scattered across the property, letting the breeze guide us. It was a day that reminded me: simplicity can be the most stunning of all.
