Mikaela + Mitch

As spring would have it in Iowa, you’re usually met with either a cold, windy day or a downpour of chilly rain. But not for Mikaela and Mitch. They somehow landed the one bright, sunny day of the week, complete with a clear sky and a crisp but manageable 50 degrees.

Mikaela arrived first, and immediately began unpacking the sweetest collection of personal touches. Every detail felt like them. From florals draped over chairs and a flower-covered cross, to playful stuffed avocado decorations, petal-strewn aisles, and M&Ms representing their initials. For a simple elopement, Mikaela thought of everything.

When Mitch arrived, we tucked Mikaela into the Couple’s Cabin, where her mother and grandmother helped her into an adorable short dress with puffy sleeves and a bow-tied veil. You could feel the excitement building…it was almost time.

Her brother took her arm and walked her down the aisle to meet Mitch, where they shared a joyful, heartfelt ceremony full of laughter and a few happy tears. We cheered as they kissed, tossing rose petals in celebration as they made their way to the champagne. A toast for all, followed by a slice into their delicious Nothing Bundt Cake.

And just when we thought the magic had peaked, they surprised us with a beautifully choreographed dance that left everyone speechless.

As the guests began to leave, we wandered the property for some golden hour couple’s photos, but not without a bubble send-off to get us started. We laughed and chatted as I snapped away, soaking in their love which was so vibrant and full of joy, so intimate and sweet.
