October inhaled gray; rain replied…soft, smelling of earth dressing the day in velvet and turning leaves to ember and gold.

Caroline and Jeremiah prepared in nearby separate cabins. Excitement building as they carefully got dressed.

Caroline stepped into the woods. He waited, soft gaze, open hands. Their first look was a quiet, fierce forever.

Hand in hand they entered the conservatory, where glass kept the rain out and plants leaned in. Beetle, curious and wobbling, brought accidental joy. Their brief ceremony was sweet and un- forgetful.

Plans shifted: dinner under the lean-to, cake by the stained-glass where colored light pooled. As evening fell, twinkling lights and quiet voices filled the space. The rain stripped life to what mattered. Love held them, wrapped in autumn’s hush.
